340 mgy SAF plant being built in China

Oriental Energy Company Ltd. is building a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) manufacturing facility with an annual production capacity of approximately 340 million gallons in Maoming, China, in southwestern Guangdong province. The project will be built in two phases and involves two production units that will process used cooking oil and animal fat feedstock. Oriental Energy Company will use Honeywell UOP Ecofining™ process technology for SAF manufacturing.

“By taking advantage of our existing petrochemical industry chain, we will build a new petrochemical production base to enable the mass production of SAF in China, contributing to greenhouse gas emission reduction in the aviation sector and China’s carbon-neutral goals,” said Wang Mingxiang, chairman of Oriental Energy.

Henry Liu, an executive with Honeywell, added, “Honeywell and Oriental Energy have been enjoying a well-established business relationship, and we are thrilled to extend our collaboration to provide strong technological support to the deployment of SAF in China and help reduce carbon emissions of the aviation industry.”

Honeywell currently has licensed 25 Ecofining™ units in eleven countries around the world, processing 12 different types of renewable feedstocks.

Honeywell’s technology was applied in China’s SAF field as early as 2011.
