Aral AG introduces its branded renewable diesel at 2 truck stops in Germany

The German oil company Aral AG announced March 24 that it is offering hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), also known as renewable diesel, for its commercial vehicle customers at select locations in Germany.
Aral HVO can now be purchased at the two Aral truck stops in Schönfeld (Saxony) and Schnaittach (Bavaria).
Aral HVO is a renewable, lower-emission fuel alternative that can be used in many trucks as a direct replacement for diesel—even as a swap.
Fleet customers have been able to refuel with Aral HVO since the end of 2024 at 10 automatic diesel stations (ADS) in Germany.
Aral plans to introduce Aral HVO for bus and truck customers at additional selected locations in Germany by mid-2025.
The goal is to provide a supply corridor for the most important transit routes in Germany.
Depending on customer demand and acceptance, Aral said it is considering introducing Aral HVO at additional selected Aral locations in Germany.
“The launch of Aral HVO is another important milestone in expanding our fuel offering,” said Achim Bothe, Aral’s chairman of the board of directors. “Alongside Aral Ultimate high-performance fuels, including the recent launch of a new formula for Aral Ultimate Diesel, and the pilot phase of Aral Futura, Aral HVO is further evidence of our fuel expertise. Quality, innovation and customer focus have been the foundation of our successful brand for more than 100 years and will remain so. With Aral HVO, we have another fuel made from renewable raw materials in our range that many truck drivers can use directly to help reduce CO2 emissions over its lifecycle. Ultra-fast charging and an attractive convenience offering with our REWE To Go shops and Petit Bistros round out the diverse customer offering at Aral filling stations.”
Produced from renewable raw materials such as used cooking oil, Aral HVO achieves a well-to-wheel savings of at least 85 percent in CO2 emissions compared to pure fossil diesel.
Aral HVO can be used alternately with diesel in engines approved by the manufacturer for the use of diesel fuels according to EN 15940.
Like all Aral fuels, Aral HVO contains the innovative antidirt formula, which removes harmful deposits in the engine and prevents their formation.
This can reduce the risk of failure of critical engine components during continuous use.
“We want to be our customers’ first choice,” said Michael Brell, a senior sales manager for Aral. “As Germany, like many European countries, sets increasingly stringent vehicle-emissions targets, and the necessary technologies for electric and hydrogen-powered trucks as well as the necessary infrastructure are still being developed, transition fuels like Aral HVO can play an important role. Fleet owners need reliability to initiate a transition away from traditional fuels. Aral HVO enables them to take the first step today.”
The world’s future energy mix is expected to include a range of lower-emission solutions for the mobility sector.
For example, in January 2023, Aral opened Europe’s first electric-truck charging corridor along a 600-kilometer section of the Rhine-Alpine corridor.
The Aral pulse truck-charging network in Germany currently consists of 26 locations, with further expansion planned.
