Bangchak Sriracha receives ISCC certification for B24 marine biofuel

Thailand’s Bangchak Sriracha Public Co. Ltd. announced Feb. 17 that it has officially received the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC EU) for its B24 fuel.
With this certification, the company said it is fully prepared to supply B24 fuel to customers worldwide.
Committed to developing sustainable and environmentally friendly energy solutions, BSRC has introduced B24, a marine fuel containing 24 percent methyl-ester biodiesel made from used cooking oil (UCO) and blended with very-low sulfur fuel oil (VLSFO).
This fuel is designed to be a direct substitute for petroleum-based fuels, requiring no modifications to ship engines or existing fuel infrastructure.
BSRC received the ISCC EU certification in December and plans to begin the sale of B24 this month.
The marine biofuel has already garnered significant interest from leading global shipping companies and domestic customers alike, according to BSRC.
One of the key advantages of B24 is its lower emission profile, helping reduce carbon emission from ships.
This aligns with the International Maritime Organization’s ambitious targets to cut greenhouse-gas emissions from global shipping by 20 percent by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
