Energy Transfer to pursue renewable diesel, other alt-energy projects
Energy Transfer LP has created a new group to increase efforts in developing alternative energy projects. Energy Transfer’s Alternative Energy Group will be led by Tom Mason, who has more than 30 years of industry experience, including 14 years as the company’s general counsel—a role he will continue.
The purpose for this new endeavor, the company says, is to continue reducing the environmental footprint throughout its operations. According to Energy Transfer, it owns and operates one of the largest and most diversified portfolios of energy assets in the U.S.
In addition to renewable energy projects such as solar and wind farms, Energy Transfer’s Alternative Energy Group will also look to develop renewable diesel and renewable natural gas projects.
“These potential projects could involve the utilization of existing pipelines throughout Energy Transfer’s extensive pipeline system, which consists of more than 90,000 miles of pipelines crossing 38 states,” the company stated. “The partnership is committed to helping meet the energy needs of our country while also reducing our carbon footprint throughout the U.S.”
