Equipment failure at Neste’s Singapore refinery shuts down renewable diesel line
Neste Corp.’s renewable diesel production in Singapore is temporarily shut down after what the company described in a statement to Biobased Diesel Daily® as an unforeseen equipment failure.
After a planned maintenance shutdown in the third quarter and subsequent start up in October, “Singapore’s first production line encountered an unforeseen equipment failure that led to the shutdown of the production line at the refinery,” Neste stated.
The impacted production line produces renewable diesel that meets the requirements set for the U.S. market.
Neste said its U.S. customers have been notified of the impact to their deliveries for the remainder of the year.
Neste's renewable diesel deliveries to customers outside of the U.S. continue as planned, the company said, as Neste continues to produce renewable diesel at its biorefineries in Finland, the Netherlands and via joint operation in California with Marathon Petroleum.
The production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at the new production line of the Singapore refinery has not been affected, according to Neste.
Repair work has begun to fix the renewable diesel production line in Singapore, Neste stated, but no timeline was given on when the company expects those repairs to be completed.
