Germany exported more soybean meal and less rapeseed meal in 2024
According to information from the German Federal Statistical Office, German oil mills increased their soybean exports 13 percent to 834,000 metric tons from July through November 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.
At the same time, exports of rapeseed meal declined around 15 percent to 675,900 tons.
According to investigations conducted by Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft (mbH), most rapeseed and soybean meal produced in Germany was exported to other EU countries.
The ports in the Netherlands were the main recipients for global shipments, as they were in previous years.
From July to November, Germany sold around 285,800 tons of rapeseed meal to this neighboring country, representing a 17 percent decline from the same period the previous year.
At around 89,200 tons, Denmark also received 3 percent less, dropping down to third place among the most important recipients.
Rapeseed-meal exports to Sweden and Switzerland also remained below the previous year’s levels.
German deliveries to Finland rose around 16 percent to 91,000 tons compared to the first five months of the 2023-’24 marketing year.
Notably, deliveries to France climbed around 81 percent, reaching 42,000 tons.
The soybean meal produced also went mostly to EU countries.
Denmark, one of the EU’s leading producers of pork, is the largest market.
Nevertheless, in the period from July to November, Germany’s deliveries of soybean meal dropped approximately 6 percent to 153,200 tons compared to the same year-earlier period.
In contrast, deliveries to the Netherlands jumped 31,000 tons to 116,000 tons.
