Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority announces biofuel-infrastructure funding

The Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority announced Jan. 6 that it has invested nearly $3.4 million in projects that increase the distribution and use of higher blends of ethanol and biodiesel in the state of Missouri.

Expenses incurred during the construction, installation, upgrade or retrofit of fuel dispensers/pumps, storage tanks and other infrastructure located in Missouri qualified for partial funding from MASBDA.

“We are pleased to partner with Missouri Soybean and Missouri Corn to increase the availability of biofuels in Missouri,” said Jill Wood, MASBDA’s executive director. “These projects will create demand for two of Missouri’s top commodities, which helps growers, while also offering options for consumers.”

Mark Lehenbauer, chair of the Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council, said, “Biodiesel is a Missouri-made renewable fuel that supports Missouri soybean farmers and provides more options for suppliers and fleets. This program is an important step in our efforts to build new demand and access for biodiesel and growth for our economy in the state.”

Projects receiving funds to increase the availability of biodiesel blends B6 or higher, and their locations in Missouri, include:

  • MFA Oil Company—Palmyra

  • Dhanya & Tashka LLC—Arnold

  • TA Operating LLC—Concordia and Oak Grove

  • Scotland County Government—Memphis

  • SAIA Inc.—St. Peters

  • Wortman-Fortner LLC—Washington

  • Narayan LLC—Hillsboro

  • Kalki LLC—Hillsboro

“We are excited to work with our partners to incentivize additional biofuel retail locations across the state and provide drivers with increased access to homegrown fuels,” said Matt Lambert, president of the Missouri Corn Growers Association. “Given the 2024 legislative session’s challenges, successfully securing BIIP funding is a testament to the value Missouri agriculture brings to the state’s economy. We’re excited to see this hard work continue to pay off with increased use of biofuels, stronger markets for Missouri farmers and cost-effective options at the pump.”

Projects receiving funds to increase the availability of higher ethanol blends, including E15 or higher and E85:

  • Scrivener Oil Co.—Ozark

  • InConvenience Inc.—Burlington Junction, Fairfax and Tarkio

  • Dhanya & Tashka LLC—Arnold

  • Nena Albany LLC—Albany

  • Kalki LLC—Hillsboro

  • Narayan LLC—Hillsboro

Funding for biofuel infrastructure is provided through funds made available by the Missouri General Assembly.
