NBB’s Samantha Turner to join Missouri Soybean as communications director
Samantha Turner, communications manager for the National Biodiesel Board, will become Missouri Soybean’s new director of communications effective Sept. 22. Missouri Soybean’s former communications director, Christine Tew, left the organization in early August after more than seven years to take a position at Valent.
Turner has previous work experience with Missouri Soybean and completed an internship with the organization.
“I look forward to returning to my roots within Missouri agriculture and serving soybean growers,” Turner said. “I believe this is an immense opportunity to share the incredible soybean stories from across the state and shape the soybean message with a collective voice.”
Turner grew up on her family’s generational farm in Norborne, Missouri. She holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural education and a master’s degree in ag leadership, communication and education. Both of Turner’s undergraduate and graduate degrees are from the University of Missouri in Columbia.
As the new communication lead, Turner “will work to shape the growing soybean industry, as well as promote Missouri Soybean and its vision,” the organization stated. “She is responsible for the development of communication strategies for the team and plans to support the industry through content enhancing the soybean narrative.”
CEO Gary Wheeler said, “We are excited and eager to welcome Samantha back to the Missouri Soybean team. I believe our members will benefit greatly from her professional and personal background working within the agricultural industry. Our board and staff are ready to see her vision for the program, leading the soybean association and checkoff to success, transforming the way we communicate with farmer, consumer and industry partners to better deliver for our soybean producers.”
