RNM Group, BP inaugurate advanced biofuel logistics terminal at Port of Aveiro, Portugal

RNM Group announced March 24 that it and BP Portugal inaugurated a state-of-the-art fuel and advanced biofuel logistics terminal March 21 at the Port of Aveiro, Portugal.
The event took place at the RNM liquid bulk terminal.
Strategically located in the central-northern region of Portugal and designed with strong capabilities for reception, storage, blending and incorporation of biofuels, this logistics and industrial infrastructure is prepared to operate as a modern and flexible intermodal hub, promoting digitalization and innovation in the sector, RNM stated.
This new terminal expands RNM’s infrastructure capacity by 57,000 cubic meters (more than 15 million gallons) and, through a service agreement signed with BP, will allow BP to receive and distribute “state-of-the-art fuels as well as biofuels,” according to RNM.
The terminal strengthens BP’s ability to store and supply fuel in an even more competitive and reliable way, the company added.
It is prepared to blend fuels and incorporate material volumes of biofuels.
Its design features provide great flexibility, allowing it to meet market needs in the short, medium and long term, RNM said.
“This new project reflects Grupo RNM’s logistical investment and its commitment to innovation and sustainability,” said Ricardo Machado, the chairman of the board of directors for RNM Group.
“With the inauguration of this new operational base, the RNM Group reinforces its position as one of the main chemical operators in the Iberian Peninsula and establishes a strategic partnership with BP, thus promoting in Portugal the use of the most advanced fuels in the world in an efficient and sustainable way,” Machado added.
With this new infrastructure, RNM stated that the sector gains a crucial boost in terms of supply chain and resilience.
