US biodiesel exports soar in April, more than doubling entire 1st-quarter volume
U.S. biodiesel exports soared in April, with shipments for the month more than doubling the entire three-month volumes of the first quarter, according to new data released June 30 by the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
Biodiesel exports for April approached 44 million gallons, totaling 43.85 million gallons, up 300 percent from March and 115 percent more than the U.S. exported during the first three months of the year combined.
A vast majority of U.S. biodiesel exports in April went to Canada, which took in 39.35 million gallons.
In distant second was Peru, where 4.2 million gallons of U.S. biodiesel was shipped.
Other destinations included Singapore (126,000 gallons), Norway (84,000 gallons), Germany and Indonesia (42,000 gallons each).
U.S. biodiesel imports rose about 9 percent in April over March, coming in at a total of 42 million gallons.
Nearly 16 million gallons of biodiesel came to the U.S. in April from Germany.
Just over 10 million gallons entered the U.S. from Canada.
Approximately 8.3 million gallons of biodiesel hit U.S. shores from Spain in April.
The rest of the U.S.’s biodiesel imports in April originated in South Korea (3.86 million gallons) and Italy (3.78 million gallons).
U.S. renewable diesel imports in April fell by nearly 50 percent, dropping from more than 33 million gallons in March to just 17.64 million gallons in April.
All of the U.S.’s renewable diesel imports in April came from Singapore.
